Thank you for your interest in Clinton County. On behalf of our 38,500 residents, the Clinton County Economic Partnership works to promote the natural beauty of Clinton County’s wide open spaces, help our businesses thrive, and grow the local economy by coordinating funds and developing infrastructure to attract more investment in Clinton County.
Situated in north-central Pennsylvania’s beautiful PA Wilds, at the edge of Pennsylvania’s Ridge and Valley region, our topography is diverse. Northern Clinton County is mountainous, heavily forested and sparsely populated. State parks and state forests welcome the public to enjoy unspoiled nature at its best – in fact, over 60 percent of Clinton County is state land, available for public use. The area has become a destination for those who want to test their endurance against our rugged topography.
Lock Haven Civil War Monument
The West Branch of the Susquehanna River traverses our county and was a vital factor in the area’s colonial settlement. Today, these waters provide daily recreation and create a gathering place for community celebrations and events. The City of Lock Haven, home to a population of nearly 9,000 people, is our county seat. It’s also home to Commonwealth University of PA – Lock Haven, which welcomes 2,900 students to the area each year.

The Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Creek converge at the south central portion of the county, just east of Lock Haven. South of the river, forested ridges and rolling hills, sprinkled with generational farms, form the perfect backdrop for life in our historic community.
In southern Clinton County, Sugar Valley stretches for 18 miles and is about 2 miles wide. Named for the number of sugar maple trees there when the valley was first settled, the valley is filled with farms – many operated by the Amish. The valley is home to one of the County’s rapidly expanding businesses, Nicholas Meat, LLC.
The local valleys are home to a large population of Amish. Their “plain and simple” lifestyle is built upon deeply held religious beliefs and a strong work ethic. A leisurely drive through our rural valleys offers peaceful scenery on country roads, and a glimpse of Amish families working in the fields and traveling by horse and buggy. Stop by local Amish-owned businesses for fresh garden produce, hand-made quilts, custom wood furniture, leather goods, and more.

Committed to a bright future, the Clinton County Economic Partnership has worked for more than 30 years to promote tourism, encourage cooperation and networking among the area’s business community, and has focused on creating the conditions and infrastructure to attract new businesses. The area has sites which are ready to be built upon, including the William Garbrick, Sr. Lamar Township Business Park.
