Geisinger Medical Clinic Lock Haven
Few communities of our size enjoy access to the excellent health care services which are available locally. The area is served by two of the state’s largest health care systems, both of which have made major investments in Clinton County over the past few years.
Construction of the new Geisinger Medical Clinic Lock Haven, shown above, has added new health care services, including a Geisinger ConvenientCare walk-in clinic, specialty services, and a Geisinger Pharmacy to the area’s offerings. The 40,000 square-foot facility is part of a clinical joint venture between Geisinger and Highmark Health, with both organizations making investments to improve existing clinical facilities, develop new ones, expand services and improve access to care across the region. Employing approximately 60 people full-time, the facility offers 58 exam rooms and includes adult and pediatric primary care offices, medication therapy management, and imaging and lab services. It also features physical, occupational and speech therapy, orthopaedics, foot care and a specialty clinic with skin care, liver and gut care, kidney care, adult and pediatric heart care, adult and pediatric psychology, surgical services, ear, nose and throat (ENT) care, and women’s health services.
UPMC, a $24 billion world-renowned non-profit health system, known for its excellence in health care, employs more than 92,000 staff members including 4,900 doctors. UPMC is the state’s largest non-governmental employer, and operates 40 academic, specialty and community hospitals.
UPMC Lock Haven is a 25-bed, Joint Commission accredited hospital providing inpatient, outpatient, emergency, medical, and surgical services. The hospital’s 90-bed Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing facility offers rehabilitation and long-term care services. Graham Meadows Memory Care Community is a 34-bed facility specially designed and staffed to care for dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. UPMC operates two other facilities in Clinton County: the UPMC Outpatient Center located just off the McElhattan Route 220 exit in McElhattan, and the UPMC Outpatient Center in Lock Haven, located on High Street.
Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital is operated by Geisinger Health System – one of the largest rural health care organizations in the country. Geisinger employs more than 24,000 people, more than 1,700 physicians and operates 130 clinic sites and 10 hospital campuses including Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, which is located just thirteen miles from Lock Haven on the Clinton/Lycoming County line.
Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission. The 25-bed Critical Access Hospital provides a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and sub-acute health care services, including an urgent care center. Designated by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center, Geisinger Jersey Shore provides the level of care necessary to achieve long-term successful outcomes for stroke patients. Geisinger Jersey Shore also staffs ConvenientCare McElhattan, ConvenientCare Lock Haven and Geisinger Jersey Shore Medical Associates – Avis, offering walk-in service for non-emergency medical needs, including evening and weekend hours.
In addition to the two health systems, local residents are served by numerous physician offices, medical service providers and retirement communities offering inpatient and outpatient services on a short-term or long-term basis. Located in communities spread throughout the county, they offer choices in primary care and specialized treatment, as well as hearing, vision, dental, chiropractic, pharmacy, and home nursing services.
