Jacob Harder was a renowned gunmaker in Clinton County from 1858 until his retirement in 1887. His weapons were innovative, received many awards and were especially valued in the Western US. John D. Young Sr. collected the renowned Harder weapons and his family made them available to the Clinton County Historical Society after his death. The collection may be viewed at Miller’s Gun Shop in Mill Hall, including this 4-barrel rifle shown at right.
